National Signing Day is on Feb. 4 and the SEC is primed to bring in another impressive haul of top recruits in the 2015 recruiting class.

In the next 25 days, Saturday Down South counts down the top 25 recruits either committed to the SEC or strongly considering SEC schools.

No. 12 Daylon Mack

Position: Defensive Tackle
247Sports ranking: No. 14 overall; No. 2 overall in Texas
Committed: Looking at Texas A&M, TCU

The skinny: Two schools really remain in the battle for five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack: Texas A&M and TCU. Mack was originally committed to Texas A&M, and following his decommitment, he was looking elsewhere, including LSU. However, when John Chavis left LSU for Texas A&M, it brought the Aggies back into the fold. Mack is one of the best athletes in the entire class. At 6-0, 330 pounds, Mack is athletic enough to play some fullback at the next level, although he’ll be an elite defensive tackle. He’s not too tall, and his body type reminds me of former FSU DT Timmy Jernigan. He’s power, quick and very explosive off the snap and will wreak havoc against whoever he plays.

Freshman projection: Defensive tackle is one of the toughest positions to project at the next level. Plenty of five-star players get lost in the depth chart, and some just frankly don’t pan out in the long run. With talent like Mack has, he’ll be in the defensive line rotation, especially if it’s Texas A&M. The Aggies need impact players at tackle, and if the Aggies can land his services, the Garrett-Mack combo could be downright nasty in the next few years.
